Default behaviour is 1:1 — your ICO output has the same pixel dimensions as the JPG source. To resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ before or after this step. Chaining is faster than re-rendering at a new size inside the conversion pipeline.
For JPG / WebP, quality 75-85 typically yields a file 60-80% smaller than the source JPG with no visible difference at normal viewing distance. For lossless targets (PNG, TIFF), expect modest savings — usually 5-30% via better deflate / LZW compression than the source happened to use.

Why is my converted ICO file bigger or smaller than I expected?

A JPG file with strong existing compression (heavily lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded to a lossless ICO (PNG, TIFF); a high-bitrate lossless JPG often shrinks dramatically going to JPG / WebP. The ratio depends on image content — photographs compress very differently from line art or screenshots.
