BMP to JFIF Processing FAQ
How do I convert BMP to JFIF without losing image quality?
+
Upload your BMP file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for the JFIF output. For lossless targets (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy targets (JPG, WebP, AVIF) you can tune the quality factor before download.
Does BMP to JFIF conversion preserve transparency?
+
Transparency survives when going to PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background — if transparency matters for your use (web overlays, logos), target a transparency-aware format instead of JFIF = JPG.
What about EXIF metadata when converting BMP to JFIF?
+
In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the JFIF. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Can I batch-convert hundreds of BMP files to JFIF at once?
+
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
How does BMP to JFIF compare to Photoshop or GIMP for the same task?
+
For format conversion we run the same libpng / libjpeg-turbo / libwebp / ImageMagick pipelines a desktop editor uses, with identical output quality. The difference is workflow — desktop tools handle one file at a time; we accept a batch and run them in parallel server-side.
What resolution and dimensions will my JFIF file have?
+
Default behaviour is 1:1 — your JFIF output has the same pixel dimensions as the BMP source. To resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ before or after this step. Chaining is faster than re-rendering at a new size inside the conversion pipeline.
Are my BMP files private during conversion?
+
Yes. Uploaded BMP files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted JFIF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
Why is my converted JFIF file bigger or smaller than I expected?
+
A BMP file with strong existing compression (heavily lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded to a lossless JFIF (PNG, TIFF); a high-bitrate lossless BMP often shrinks dramatically going to JPG / WebP. The ratio depends on image content — photographs compress very differently from line art or screenshots.
Can I use the converted JFIF file commercially?
+
Yes. The conversion is a format change only — copyright on the image content stays with you (or whoever held it on the BMP source). We add no watermark, embed no tracking pixels, and claim no licence over the JFIF output.
